AES Ocean Express is a proposed natural gas pipeline project that will transport 842 million cubic feet of natural gas to southeastern Florida (see attached Capacity Allocation Log). The project consists of a new 53.62 mile interstate 26-inch natural gas pipeline extending from the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) boundary between the United States and The Bahamas, to interconnect with the Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) system in Broward County, Florida. At the EEZ boundary, the Ocean Express pipeline will connect with, and receive natural gas transported by, a 40-mile Bahamian-jurisdictional pipeline (owned by another AES affiliate) that extends to Ocean Cay, The Bahamas. Ocean Cay, an existing 90-acre manmade industrial island, will be the site of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving, storage and regasification facility, AES Ocean LNG - www.aesoceanlng.com that will receive LNG from international sources. The AES pipeline will deliver natural gas to markets in the State of Florida and, via the interstate pipeline grid, beyond.
The Ocean Express Project will help satisfy the growing demand for natural gas in Florida, diversify the sources of supply to the state, and increase competitive alternatives to the existing pipeline infrastructure for the benefit of customers - all in an environmentally acceptable manner.
The project is being proposed by the U.S. Company, The AES Corporation,
one of the world's leading power companies. |
